Intermediates

Intermediates

Chamonix offers a whole world to explore for intermediate skiers and snowboarders with the opportunity to increase their skills on challenging terrain, or maintain their level by sticking to the vast amount of groomed piste at their disposal. With 150kms of piste available within 4 of the ski areas, intermediates will have access to vast amounts of terrain including an excellent range of testing high altitude blue and red runs.

Domain de Balme

Le Tour side is sunny with fabulous views down the valley, offering wide pistes and quiet cruising for intermediates, but also the option to dabble in some gentle off piste powder! Vallorcine side can get a little chilly but offers some nice tree lined runs.

For more information on Domain de Balme please see the ski areas page.

Le Brévent/La Flégère

This large adjoined area offers a great mix of blue and red runs, with some of the reds steeper and more challenging than in other resorts! At Brévent, intermediate skiers will find a brilliant choice of blue runs and a large number of red runs from the Col Cornu triple chair, while at Flégère the Crochues red run from the top has been described as "intermediate heaven" by many a visitor. This area is also known for its natural bowls and half pipes attracting all the budding park riders.

For more information on Le Brévent/La Flégère please see the ski areas page.

Grand Montet

The largest and most popular ski area in Chamonix, and for good reason! With limitless off piste opportunities, challenging groomed pistes and super high altitude - intermediates have the recipe for a great day on the mountain!

For more information on Grand Montet please see the ski areas page.

Les Houches

Les Houches boasts one of the most scenic blue runs of the valley above the mid station which is definitely worth a visit. Intermediates are able to boost their confidence here as there are nice open runs and a variety of gradients, perfect for practicing techniques. Les Houches is great for groups of mixed ability to get everything they need within one area.

For more information on Les Houches please see the ski areas page.

Off piste

If there was ever a place to offer the most opportunity for off piste for intermediates, then Chamonix has to be it. Not exceptionally difficult off piste, but enough off piste to feel you are pushing yourself that bit further, or that you are straying enough away from the groomed piste to have your own adventure! I'm not just talking about the tonnes of powder to the side of the pistes, but also the options of making your own tracks off piste on the glaciers - with the help of a guide of course! The top lift at the Grand Montet offers unbeatable snow on the Glacier, which is super accessible by a separate gondola to run again and again - or of course you have the mega run of the Vallée Blanche which is 26kms of off piste and stunning scenery that you'll never forget!
