Family hikes

When taking your kids hiking it is good to plan ahead, know exactly where you're heading and what facilities are available. Easing them in with an easy short family walk is ideal before heading on to the hard stuff! We have shown below some examples of family hikes with stops at chalet bars. These chalet bars are opened seasonally so if out of the summer season please call beforehand to confirm opening times.

Cascade de Berard

Chalet du glacier des Bossons

Situated very close to the Bossons glacier this delightful chalet, adorned with flowers, offers an outstanding view of the glacier, it's seracs and crevasses. An informative trail illustrates the life of the glacier, its movements, the extraction of ice prior to modern day refrigeration and how the early guides led their clients on the glacier.

Chalet du Chapeau

A chalet with light refreshments located near the Gorges de l'Arveyron (canyon), offering views of the Drus and the Chamonix valley.

Chalet de la Floria

A flower covered chalet and perfect spot for light refreshments, with a fabulous view of Mont-Blanc and the Mer de Glace.

Cascade du Dard

Lovely 20m high waterfall and a view of the Aiguilles Rouges mountains.

• walking time : 40 mins (only 5 mins if starting from the last bend on the road to the tunnel).

Chalet du Cerro

This chalet/restaurant is located between the Cascade du Dard and the Plateau de Pyramides and offers an amazing viewpoint looking over the Glacier des Bossons.
