Advanced
The whole Chamonix ski domain is known as the ultimate European challenge and is a Mecca for any self respecting advanced skier who will always relish the prospect of a trip here to push the boundries to the limit.
Vallorcine/Domain de Balme/Le Tour
This wide and open area is regarded as one of the most gentle ski areas in Chamonix, but it is a well kept secret (not for long I'm sure), that it offers some access to great off piste and tree runs for advanced skiers. Head towards the Vallorcine side for the new gondola and ski runs, or even ski all the way East to the Trient village in Switzerland and get the bus back. Le Tour also offers some of the best views of the valley - if you get the chance to stop for a second!
For more information on Domain de Balme please see the ski areas page.
Le Brévent/La Flégère
Advanced skiers will love the tonnes of easily accessible off piste skiing and some of the steepest runs in the valley at Brévent. Check out the new black piste taking you to the valley floor which opens up some great gullys to ski in fresh snow - and the Charles Bozon run from Brévent to Plan Praz which is super challenging. Flégère also offers great off piste and access to the Floria black run at the top and the Praz home run to the valley floor.

Grand Montet
One of the most renowned advanced ski areas in the world - and for good reason! Not just for the access to vast areas of off piste and some of the longest runs in Europe, but also for the fast steep blacks, the powder bowls, the mogul fields, the forests, the jumps, the couloirs and its own snow park. If that wasn't enough - you also have access to the glacier at the top for unbeatable powder opportunities and challenging terrain!
For more information on Grand Montet please see the ski areas page.
Les Houches
Les Houches is famously known for its La Verte black run, home to the Kandahar World Cup downhill competition, which every advanced skier should aim to conquer!
For more information on Les Houches please see the ski areas page.
Off piste
Advanced skiers can have an off piste feast when coming to Chamonix. With the limitless opportunities it is easy to see why so many advanced skiers return again and again. Advanced skiers and snowboarders are truly spoilt for choice for off piste terrain with dozens of options at every ski area, but the ultimate has got to be the Vallée Blanche! Although the terrain on the classic route is not overly testing, it can't be missed for its outstanding scenery on the longest glacial run in the world! Word of warning - even advanced skiers will need a guide to lead the way on this ever changing glacier!
